RBI cancelled the banking licence of The Adoor Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd, Adoor, Kerala and notified it as a non-banking institution. The bank must stop banking operations, including accepting deposits from non-members.
Impact
With effect from the close of business on April 24, 2023, the entity cannot operate as a bank and must cease accepting deposits from non-members. It remains obligated to repay unpaid and unclaimed deposits of non-members whenever demanded, even after being treated as a non-banking institution.
