RBI extends action period on U.P. Civil Secretariat Primary Co-operative Bank

Case Brief

The Reserve Bank of India extended an existing directive issued under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 against U.P. Civil Secretariat Primary Co-operative Bank Ltd., Lucknow. The earlier directive dated March 11, 2026 had been in force for six months up to close of business on September 11, 2026. RBI has now continued the directive for a further three months, from close of business on September 11, 2026 to close of business on December 11, 2026, subject to review. The release states that all other terms and conditions of the directive remain unchanged and that the extension should not be interpreted as satisfaction with the bank's financial position.
