Case Brief
What Happened
The Reserve Bank of India had placed Sikar Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd, Sikar under Directions under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 in October 2018. Those directions were modified and extended over time, and the latest extension had been up to close of business on March 09, 2026. RBI has now withdrawn the directions, citing its review of the bank's financial position and public interest considerations, with the withdrawal effective from the close of business on February 04, 2026.
