RBI cancelled the licence of The Kapol Co-operative Bank Limited, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The bank must cease banking business immediately.
Impact
The bank cannot carry on banking business anymore, including accepting or repaying deposits. Depositors’ claims will move into liquidation and eligible depositors may receive insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh from DICGC, subject to law and claim processing. The bank has also been requested to be wound up and a liquidator appointed.
