RBI, by order dated August 31, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty on CRIF High Mark Credit Information Services Private Limited for non-compliance with certain provisions of its directions on the framework for compensation to customers for delayed updation/rectification of credit information. After statutory inspection, issuance of a show-cause notice, and consideration of the company’s replies and oral submissions, RBI held that the company failed to credit compensation amounts to the bank accounts of certain eligible complainants within the prescribed period. The penalty was imposed under the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005.
