What Happened
The Reserve Bank of India has extended the existing Directions issued to Shree Mahalaxmi Urban Co-operative Credit Bank Ltd., Gokak (Karnataka) under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The earlier directive, issued on September 26, 2024, is now extended from close of business on December 27, 2025 to close of business on March 27, 2026, subject to review. RBI clarified that the extension or modification should not be taken as indicating satisfaction with the bank's financial position, and all other terms and conditions of the directive remain unchanged.
