What Happened
RBI, by an order dated August 05, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty on The Katihar District Central Co-operative Bank Limited, Bihar after a statutory inspection by NABARD and a show-cause process. The bank was found to have sanctioned loans to its director and failed to submit customer credit information to two Credit Information Companies, contrary to RBI directions and provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 and the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005.
