Case Brief
What Happened
RBI, by order dated May 13, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹50 lakh on Deutsche Bank AG, India. The penalty was levied after RBI’s supervisory inspection found that the bank had not complied with certain directions relating to the creation and reporting framework for the Central Repository of Information on Large Credits (CRILC). Specifically, the sustained charge was that the bank did not report credit information of certain borrowers to CRILC. RBI stated that the penalty was imposed under Section 47A(1)(c) read with Section 46(4)(i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, and that it was without prejudice to any other action that may be initiated.
