Case Brief
What Happened
The Reserve Bank of India imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh on Delhi Nagrik Sehkari Bank Limited, New Delhi, by order dated August 19, 2021. RBI said the bank had not complied with directions in its Master Circular on Exposure Norms and Statutory/Other Restrictions for UCBs, and the inspection report specifically noted non-adherence to the prudential inter-bank (gross) exposure limit. After a show-cause notice, reply, and oral submissions, RBI concluded the violation was substantiated and warranted the penalty under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
